Golfshot costs $79.99 a year for Pro. Yards is $49.99/yr or $14.99 once per course. What each one is actually for, where Golfshot is the better buy, and where it is not.

The short answer

Golfshot and Yards solve different halves of the same problem. Golfshot is a GPS and scoring app with club recommendations and 3D flyover previews across a large course library. Like 18Birdies it is built for use during the round. Golfshot costs $79.99 a year for Pro, $99.99 a year for Champions. Yards is $14.99 once per course or $49.99/yr for every mapped course.

The verdict

If you want distances on the course, Golfshot covers far more of them. If you want to know which club scores best on a hole before you get there, that is a different product and it is this one.

What Yards does not do

It does not track your shots automatically, read greens, give you live distances on the course, analyse your swing, or work on a course nobody has mapped. It runs the strategy for a mapped hole against your handicap and your clubs, before you play. That is the whole product.
