Vancouver Golf Club Coquitlam, British Columbia
Vancouver Golf Club is a par-72 public course in Coquitlam, British Columbia, playing 6,800 yards from the BLACK tees with a rating of 72.6 and slope of 131. It is the oldest club in the Lower Mainland, and Lydia Ko won here twice.
The Course
Five men met on 11 November 1910 and incorporated The British Columbia Golf Club Ltd. The first nine opened the following June on a former sheep farm on the west side of Blue Mountain, the second nine in May 1917, and the name settled as Vancouver Golf Club in 1941. It is the oldest club in the Lower Mainland.
Lightning took the clubhouse down in 1937. The course has been reworked more quietly since, most visibly in 1972 on the 17th and 18th, and a 1970 land sale at the southwest corner paid for a new 6th green without shortening the card.
The tournament record is the real distinction. The du Maurier Classic came in 1988 and 1991, the Canadian Women's Open in 2012 and 2015. The 2012 edition is the one people remember: Lydia Ko won it here at fifteen, still an amateur, the youngest winner of an LPGA Tour event. She came back and won it again in 2015.
Across the holes we have mapped, the fairway measures a median 28 yards wide where a tee shot lands, and pinches to 18 at its narrowest. Five of the 18 holes bend more than 18 yards off the straight line. The map carries 59 bunkers. Water crosses the line of play on the 2nd.
A median 28 yards of landing area is the kind of number that settles a round before you swing. Yards works the tee shot on every hole here for your handicap and your own carry distances, then names the target that loses fewest strokes. Holes 1 and 2 are open to anyone, which here means a 396-yard par 4 and a 371-yard par 4.
Worth knowing before you go
- Private. Member and guest play only.
- Six BC Amateurs between 1922 and 1974, and four PNGA championships going back to 1920.

- The club dug its own three-million-gallon reservoir in 1996 and came off city water entirely.
