The Course
Jack Nicklaus has put his name in the title of only a handful of the 150-odd courses his firm has built. This is one of them, opened in 1996 on the Whistler valley floor, running alongside the glacier-fed Green Lake with the peaks standing over it.
It is 6,961 yards from the Gold tees and conspicuously fair about the length. Nicklaus gives you more fairway here than anything else in this part of the province, then charges for what you do with the room.
The 17th is the one that gets photographed. A 226-yard par 3 with a single bunker wrapping the front and round to the back left, and Green Lake beyond it. The TELUS Skins Game came in 2005, Shell's Wonderful World of Golf in 1998.
Across the holes we have mapped, the fairway measures a median 36 yards wide where a tee shot lands, and pinches to 28 at its narrowest. Ten of the 18 holes bend more than 18 yards off the straight line. The map carries 90 bunkers. Water crosses the line of play on the 3rd, 9th, 10th and 11th.

- Five minutes from Whistler Village, on the valley floor rather than up the mountain.
- Semi-private, and it takes public play.
- The other two in the valley are Whistler Golf Club and Fairmont Chateau Whistler. This is the flattest walk of the three.
- Green Lake is glacier fed, which is why it is that colour and why the wind comes off it cold.
