Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. When you use the app, we store your handicap index, club bag configuration, course purchase history, and the rounds you log. If you submit course mapping contributions, we record the changes alongside your account.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to provide and personalize the Yards Golf Book service, including:
- Generating personalized yardage books and shot dispersion analysis
- Calculating your handicap-adjusted course strategy
- Processing purchases and managing your account
- Sending account-related and marketing emails (you can opt out at any time, see Section 6)
3. Data Storage and Retention
Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on AWS, US region). We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you stop using the service, we keep your data for up to 24 months after your last login so you can return without losing your handicap, clubs, and rounds. After that period, inactive accounts are deleted automatically. You can also request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 6).
Payment records are retained for 7 years to meet Canadian tax-reporting requirements. We do not store credit card numbers. Card data is held by Stripe under their own privacy policy.
4. Map Data
Course mapping data is sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors and is used under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL). Satellite imagery is provided by Google Maps.
5. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics
We use browser local storage and session storage to maintain your login session and preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used, including page views, session duration, and general traffic patterns. GA4 uses first-party cookies and does not track you across other websites. We do not use this data to identify individual users. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold on you. Email us and we'll send you an export within 30 days.
- Correct inaccurate data. You can edit your handicap, clubs, and name directly in your profile. For email changes, contact support.
- Delete your account and all associated data. We complete deletions within 30 days of the request. Some payment records are retained for tax purposes as noted in Section 3.
- Export your rounds and shot data in a portable format. Email us to request this.
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails. Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, or you can email us directly.
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with comparable data-protection law (including PIPEDA in Canada), these rights are guaranteed by that law. If you are anywhere else, we extend the same rights to you as a matter of policy.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@yardsgolfbook.com. We respond within 7 days and complete most requests within 30 days. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner; in the EU, your national supervisory authority).
7. Children
Yards Golf Book is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to active users. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision.
